General overview
MegaBoost uses patented acceleration, compression and
network optimization to enhance the online experience for
dial, broadband and wireless subscribers, while
significantly reducing bandwidth requirements. MegaBoost
uses adaptive data compression, combined with caching and
network optimization, to streamline text, graphics, Flash-
and Web-based emails, including attachments.
NOW!Imaging, included in MegaBoost, further
enhances your browsing experience, enabling you to view
higher resolution images and increasingly image-rich pages
faster. Fully usable Web pages appear almost immediately,
while the images on the page then quickly and
progressively reach maximum quality as users view the
page.

Will MegaBoost Web Accelerator speed up everything I do on
the Web?
MegaBoost Web Accelerator accelerates certain text and
graphics on Web pages. With MegaBoost Web Accelerator you
will notice a significantly faster experience when you
visit web sites, send and receive your email, upload and
download files via FTP file transfer and perform many
other Web-based activities. Currently, MegaBoost Web
Accelerator will not accelerate file downloads (except
over FTP), such as music files, or streaming video or
audio media.
How fast is MegaBoost Web Accelerator?
The exact amount of acceleration can vary, but with
MegaBoost Web Accelerator you will notice a significantly
faster experience when you visit Web sites, send and
receive email, and perform many other Web-based
activities.

How does MegaBoost Web Accelerator work?
MegaBoost accelerates your Internet access through
proprietary text and image compression, content caching,
and other network optimizations.
Will I benefit from using MegaBoost Web Accelerator?
If you have a slow Internet connection (such as a dial-up
or wireless connection) with a bandwidth of less than
300Kbps, you will experience a significant degree of
acceleration using MegaBoost.
What types of content does MegaBoost Web Accelerator speed
up?
MegaBoost Web Accelerator significantly speeds up web page
access. To achieve this speed up, proprietary lossless
compression is applied to text, html, xml, javascript and
style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied to
GIF images, JPEG images, PNG images (with MegaBoost Web
Accelerator version 5.0 and later) and Flash content.
MegaBoost also accelerates email traffic (POP3, IMAP and
SMTP) and FTP using lossless compression.
MegaBoost does NOT speed up file downloads (except over
FTP) and streaming audio/video.
Can I use MegaBoost Web Accelerator with browsers other
than Internet Explorer?
Yes. MegaBoost Web Accelerator works with any Web browser
that allows you to specify an HTTP proxy. Here's a list of
supported Web browsers:
Internet Explorer 5.0 and later
Firefox 0.9 and later
Mozilla 1.4 and later
Netscape 6.0 and later (version 8.0 only with MegaBoost
Web Accelerator version 4.0.127 and later)
Opera 8.0 and later (only with MegaBoost Web Accelerator
version 4.0 and later)
Make sure that you install the Firefox, Mozilla, or
Netscape extension when you install MegaBoost Web
Accelerator. Once MegaBoost Web Accelerator is running,
start the browser and browse as you normally would. No
user intervention is required since MegaBoost Web
Accelerator operates in the background.
If you encounter any problems, please make sure that the
the HTTP proxy host is set to "localhost" or "127.0.0.1"
and that the port number is set to the same local
listening port as the one in your MegaBoost Web
Accelerator settings. Its default value is 5400. Please
refer to the "Troubleshooting" link for detailed
information.
How do I use Internet Explorer with MegaBoost Web
Accelerator?
Start Internet Explorer and browse as you normally would.
MegaBoost Web Accelerator is launched automatically every
time Windows starts. It operates in the background to
accelerate your Web connection. No user intervention is
required.

Does MegaBoost Web Accelerator speed up email?
Yes. MegaBoost Web Accelerator can reduce the amount of
time it takes to send and receive email. MegaBoost Web
Accelerator accelerates email automatically without any
user intervention, so you can use your mail program
exactly as you normally would. It is compatible with any
POP3/IMAP/SMTP client, including Outlook Express, Eudora,
Pegasus, Opera Mail, Mozilla Mail, and Netscape Mail.
Email acceleration is enabled by default.
Does MegaBoost Web Accelerator speed up my secure (HTTPS)
transactions such as my Web-banking?
MegaBoost Web Accelerator
does not accelerate secure transactions. Secure Web sites
will continue to work by bypassing the acceleration
component.
What operating systems or platforms can MegaBoost Web

What system requirements are necessary to use MegaBoost
Web Accelerator?
Minimum system requirements for a PC:
Pentium 200MHz (or equivalent)
64MB of RAM
At least 11MB of hard-drive space.
Minimum system requirements for a Macintosh:
PowerPC G3 processor at 333MHz
128MB of RAM
6MB of hard drive space.
Why is MegaBoost Web Accelerator disabled immediately
after it launches?
Please make sure that you have configured MegaBoost Web
Accelerator properly; this includes the correct username,
password, server name, and server port number. It is also
important to check if you have a valid internet
connection.
This issue might also be caused by the High Speed
Auto-Detection feature. MegaBoost Web Accelerator might be
disabled once an active high speed connection, such as DSL
or cable modem, is detected.
